有田Fromage is a Japanese cheese produced by the Pierre Gaston G.K. company in Arita City, Saga Prefecture, in northern Kyushu Province, Japan.
It all started in the spring of 2022, when David René, a Frenchman living in Japan, couldn’t find a good Camembert for his daily consumption. There was a solution: Camemberts imported from France. But this was expensive and financially unacceptable. Camemberts from Japanese supermarkets were inexpensive, but not up to the desired taste.
The idea of making their own cheese was born in this city where the excellence of porcelain is a tradition recognized throughout the country and the world.
From the outset, the brief was to create an excellent Japanese cheese that could be appreciated by both novices and cheese lovers, and that would stand out from the rest.
After more than 3 years of research and innovation:
- The 有田Fromage was born, using the traditional recipe of French Camembert with adaptations to the requirements of the Japanese climate. The taste is perfectly that of Camembert.
- The 有田Fromage is recognizable among all cheeses thanks to its encrusted name.
